architecture and design bookstore in pike place alley, near pike place market.

Headed to Seattle and already feeling anticipatory grief that I will not have time to visit Peter Miller, which not only has a choice selection of art, architecture, and design books, covetable pens, etc., but also has the kindest proprietor. Peter's got wonderful stories + museum anecdotes, the best under-the-radar restaurant recommendations, and the books he's written—one with recipes for the lunches he makes in the shop and another about how to wash the dishes—are perfect little gems.

This beautifully curated design and architecture bookstore feels like its own little universe. Peter, who seems to know nearly everything about nearly every book in the place, is as delightful as he is knowledgeable. If bookstores had personalities, this one would be the elusive crush who got away- charming, intelligent, and achingly handsome. In short: an absolute gem.
